This trip, I only managed to guide Ed and Carter for the first 3 days while they continue the remaining birding days with my friend based on the itinerary which I proposed to them. I guided them at Fraser's Hill and Bukit Tinggi, while they continued to Kuantan and the birding spots in Johor looking for a few species of Pitta, Rail-babbler, Crested Jayshrike.

Incredible! 4 species of Hornbills from this trip covering Bukit Tinggi and Fraser's Hill. We need to get the Great Hornbill before Andy continue his Malaysia birding to Borneo, with some effort, we found the bird flying during a morning drive. The other species we found include White-crowned Hornbill and Wreathed Hornbill.

Guiding Ruud was very enjoyable. Very pleasant guy and easy to talk to. It was a short birding holiday for him in Fraser's Hill, so I had to try my best to find the birds for him within 2 days birding. Weather was good for both days and we even got a great view of Brown Wood Owl.

"Thanks for guiding for us!" - Jerry, USA

I had the pleasure of guiding Jerry and Kris today. We met at the cruise terminal around 8:30 am. Originally, I had planned to take them to Kuala Selangor, but after a brief chat with Jerry about the bird species he had seen in Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam, I suggested we change our plans and head to the Hulu Langat forest. 

Our journey was delayed due to heavy traffic along the highway, but after a two-hour drive, we finally arrived at the forest. We visited two popular birding spots in the area, where we were lucky enough to spot a variety of beautiful birds such as the Red-bearded Bee-eater, Black-and-red Broadbill, Black-and-yellow Broadbill, Diard's Trogon, Dark-necked Tailorbird, Rufous-tailed Tailorbird, Raffles's Malkoha, Black-belllied Malkoha, Asian Red-eyed Bulbul, Spectacled Bulbul, Stripe-throated Bulbul, Rufous-backed Dwarf Kingfisher and Rufous-collared Kingfisher. 

Although our time for birding was limited, we managed to a few more species like the Pacific Swallow and Grey-headed Fish-Eagle after a quick lunch break. After lunch, we made a stop to search for the Barred Eagle-Owl, and after just five minutes, I spotted it perched nearby. Jerry and Kris were thrilled to get a good view of the owl before we headed back to the cruise terminal. It may have been a short trip, but it was certainly eventful. We were able to see some of the most sought-after bird species in Kuala Lumpur, making it a memorable experience for all of us.

After dropping off Jerry and Kris at the cruise terminal, I decided to take a different route home to avoid the heavy rush hour traffic. Along the way, I made a spontaneous stop at my favorite birding spot in Putrajaya. To my delight, I spotted a variety of beautiful birds including the Purple Heron, Grey Heron, Striated Heron, Black-crowned Night Heron, Little Egret, Cattle Egret, Common Kingfisher, Oriental Darter, and Painted Stork. As the light began to fade, I reluctantly packed up my gear and headed off for dinner, feeling grateful for the unexpected birdwatching adventure. It was a perfect end to a wonderful day!

A BIG day indeed! 

It was an absolutely BIG day for Ed! We were out birding from dawn until dusk, soaking in every moment of the adventure. Our day kicked off with some incredible birding in Hulu Langat, where we were lucky enough to spot Blyth's Frogmouth and Brown Boobook. 

After a simple morning meal at a local restaurant, we dove right back into the forest to continue our birding expedition. Next, we made our way to the mangrove, determined to spot as many bird species as we possibly could before heading to the open field for more birdwatching. 

The joy on Ed's face was unmistakable - it was clear that he was savoring every single minute of our epic birding day. Today was a day to remember, filled with excitement, adventure, and the beauty of nature.

It was an absolute delight to guide a charming couple all the way from Italy on an unforgettable birdwatching adventure! Our journey took us to Kuala Selangor, Frasers Hill, and Hulu Langat, where we had the most incredible time capturing stunning photos of a wide variety of bird species.

Our adventure kicked off in an urban park in Kuala Lumpur, where we were greeted by Painted Stork, Little Egret, Cattle Egret, Purple Heron, Grey Heron, Black-crowned Night Heron, Golden-bellied Gerygone, and more. As we ventured towards the coastal area, we were thrilled to snap photos of the Yellow-bellied Prinia, Ashy Tailorbird, Sunda Pygmy Woodpecker, Laced Woodpecker, Common Flameback, White-throated Kingfisher, Collared Kingfisher, and other magnificent species. A stop before Kuala Selangor treated us to a breathtaking view of the Little Bronze Cuckoo, which we eagerly captured on camera. After a quick break at our hotel, we continued our birdwatching journey and were lucky enough to spot the Stork-billed Kingfisher, Asian Openbill, White-throated Kingfisher, Blue-tailed Bee-eater, and Black-winged Kite. 

The following day, we encountered even more fascinating species like the Greater Flameback, Laced Woodpecker, Black-naped Oriole, Rufous Woodpecker, Crested Serpent Eagle, and others before heading to Frasers Hill. Along the way, we marveled at the Yellow-bellied Warbler, White-bellied Erpornis, and Orange-breasted Trogon. Our patience paid off when we finally laid eyes on the elusive Malaysian Partridge, as well as the Chestnut-capped Laughingthrush and Oriental Magpie Robin.

The next morning, our quest for the elusive Red-headed Trogon was met with a challenge - the thick morning mist limited our success. It wasn't until the late afternoon that we finally caught a glimpse of the trogon, although it was quite shy. Nevertheless, we had an amazing day of birding, spotting key species like the Silver-eared Mesia, Malayan Laughingthrush, Rufous-browed Flycatcher, Pygmy Cupwing, Large Niltava, and many more. 

On Day 4, we made another valiant effort to find the Red-headed Trogon, but once again, the mist made it tricky. Just as we were about to give up, I decided to take a longer walk away from our usual spot and was rewarded with a sighting of a female trogon. After some time observing her, we were thrilled to spot a male trogon near our car. Mission accomplished! We left Frasers Hill after lunch, adding the Black-and-yellow Broadbill to our list on the way to Kuala Lumpur. 

For our final day of the trip, we ventured to Hulu Langat in search of the Blue-banded Kingfisher. We managed to snap some great photographs, although the Rufous-backed Dwarf Kingfisher was a bit more elusive, only seen flying around. After a satisfying lunch, I bid farewell to Beppe and Mary as I dropped them off at the airport. What an incredible adventure it has been!

Calling all bird enthusiasts! If you're looking for an exhilarating day trip, look no further than Bukit Tinggi. This prime destination is a haven for rare and exotic avian sightings, including the elusive Mountain Peacock-Pheasant and Ferruginous Partridge. Imagine observing these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat, displaying their vibrant plumage and distinctive behaviors. It's an experience that will leave you in awe and create unforgettable memories for any nature lover brave enough to venture to Bukit Tinggi in search of these rare feathered treasures.

Today was an absolute thrill as I had the pleasure of meeting up with Shah and his group to provide guidance and support. Sharing my experience with them was incredibly rewarding.

The morning weather seemed promising, but a sudden downpour in the afternoon forced us to make some adjustments to our plans. As seasoned birders, we know the importance of adaptability and quickly relocated to a more suitable spot. Despite the rain, we managed to spot the main targets of Mountain Peacock-Pheasant and Ferruginous Partridge, securing a successful day of birdwatching. What an adventure!
